GoDaddy.com® has announced that it will take over the entire portfolio of more than 850,000 generic top-level domain (gTLD) names held by RegisterFly.ICANN’s understands that GoDaddy.com and the gTLD registries holding RegisterFly names have worked out the mechanics for restoring, renewing, and redeeming names intending that no names will be inadvertently dropped. According to the terms of the transfer agreement, RegisterFly domain names and the data underlying the available proxy service will also be transferred. People with domain names registered with RegisterFly can contact GoDaddy.com at 480-366-3500 with any questions about the transfer. GoDaddy.com also has a question and answer sheet available at http://www.godaddy.com/welcomeregisterfly
The GoDaddy.com agreement is a direct and automatic transfer to a competent and experienced customer service oriented organization. This is a commercial arrangement. The bulk transfer process that ICANN was administering has been discontinued.
Within the next few days, you should be receiving an email from GoDaddy regarding how to log in to your account, as well as manage your domains. In the meantime, please feel free to check at GoDaddy.com for any developments.
ICANN understands the frustration the RegisterFly situation has caused and appreciates registrants’ patience.
Well, it looks like the whole registerfly mess will be over now since I’ce used GoDaddy in the past and the have been a very solid organization to work with.
I have used registerfly in the past because I was lured by their low prices, sometimes domain names for 60 cents apiece. I knew that they weren’t a very respectable company, but I figure I had OK luck with them so I continued to buy links from them.
Then it happened. Last December I bought 120 .infos for 60 cents each, paid with Paypal, and never received the domains! I emailed support at registerfly and they failed to respond for days and when they finally did respond it was always a problem-they wanted more information, or they didn’t understand the problem, etc.
I even tried calling them twice. I called their long-distance number and waited on hold a total of 5 HOURS before giving up! The worst part about using them is probably the fact that when it came time to renew the domains I would continually get “Billing Error” messages and would eventually lose the domains only to have them replaced by pages consisting of GOOGLE ADS putting more money into the pockets of this despicable company.
There are thousands of people in the same position as me with this company, many people in much worse shape. People who have lost their livelihoods due to this company. To read horror stories visit Icann’s official blog.
Icann finally stepped in and is in the process of removing the accreditation of registerfly and helping the many thousands of customers who have been screwed by this company.
I would like to see Google remove their ads from the domains that registerfly has, in some cases, fraudulently acquired.
Weird Al Yankovic will be performing at the Tim’s Toyota Center here in Prescott Valley next month. The show shall be quite entertaining!
